Real-time EMH meter data integration
Collected real-time values from EMH electricity meters at larger consumers in Malmö and sent the data to E.ON Live.
The problem
E.ON Live needed real-time electricity values from EMH meters installed at larger consumers in Malmö.
What Henrik owned
Henrik built the local edge readout and forwarding solution using Raspberry Pi hardware, cellular connectivity and the meter optical interface.
Work delivered
- Built a Raspberry Pi based edge device
- Connected a USB 4G modem for cellular communication
- Read EMH meter values through a USB optical meter probe
- Sent read data to the backend using ZeroMQ and HTTP
- Connected the real-time values to the E.ON Live service
Technical approach
The local edge unit combined a Raspberry Pi, USB 4G modem and USB optical meter probe so existing EMH meters could provide real-time values without replacing the meter.
Where it stands
Real-time electricity values from larger consumers in Malmö were delivered to E.ON Live.
